🏆 Sleep Success Tips

🛁

Consistent Routine

A predictable sequence like bath, pajamas, book, and song signals to your baby that it's time to wind down.

🛏️

Safe Sleep (ABCs)

Baby should sleep Alone, on their Back, in a Crib. Keep the crib free of blankets, pillows, and toys.

🥱

Drowsy But Awake

Putting your baby down when they are sleepy but not yet asleep teaches them to self-soothe, a crucial skill.

☀️

Daylight & Darkness

Expose your baby to natural light during the day and keep the sleep environment dark to regulate their circadian rhythm.

🤫

Optimize the Environment

A cool (68-72°F / 20-22°C), dark, and quiet room (or with white noise) promotes better sleep.

👀

Watch for Sleep Cues

Learn your baby's sleepy signals (yawning, rubbing eyes, fussiness) to start the wind-down process before they become overtired.

🧠 Understanding Baby Sleep Cycles

Newborn Sleep

Newborns have only 2 sleep stages: Active (REM) and Quiet (Non-REM). Cycles are short (45-50 mins). They spend ~50% of sleep in the active, light stage, making them noisy, twitchy sleepers.

Infant Sleep (4+ months)

Around 4 months, sleep matures into 4 stages, like adults. This change can cause the "4-month sleep regression" as they learn to link longer sleep cycles. Self-soothing becomes key.
