A Glance at the Trimesters

1

First Trimester (Wk 1-13)

The foundational period. Major organs and body systems form. Morning sickness and fatigue are common.

2

Second Trimester (Wk 14-27)

Often called the "honeymoon" phase. You may feel more energetic, and baby's movements can often be felt for the first time.

3

Third Trimester (Wk 28-40+)

The final stretch. Baby grows rapidly, gaining weight and preparing for birth. Rest is crucial as your body prepares for labor.

📖 How Is Your Due Date Calculated?

A pregnancy due date is most commonly estimated using Naegele's rule, which adds 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). This method assumes a standard 28-day menstrual cycle with ovulation occurring on day 14. Since not every person has a textbook cycle, our calculator lets you adjust for your actual average cycle length, shifting the estimated conception date and due date accordingly.

It's important to understand that a due date is an estimate, not a deadline. Full term is considered anywhere from 39 weeks to 40 weeks and 6 days. Babies born between 37 and 38 weeks and 6 days are "early term," and those born at 41 weeks or later are "late term" or "post-term." Each pregnancy is unique, and your healthcare provider will monitor your progress to determine the best plan for you and your baby.

An early ultrasound (typically performed between 8 and 12 weeks) is the gold standard for confirming or adjusting your due date. The crown-rump length (CRL) measurement taken during this scan is highly accurate. If the ultrasound date and the LMP-based date differ by more than a week, your provider may revise your estimated due date.

Beyond the due date, this calculator shows you key pregnancy milestones — like when each trimester ends and an estimated conception window — to help you feel prepared for the exciting journey ahead. Consider sharing these dates with your partner, family, and healthcare team so everyone is on the same timeline.
